Born and raised in Hong Kong, Mr. Justice Azizul Rahman Suffiad completed his secondary education at Diocesan Boys’ School. He was admitted to the Law Department of the University of Hong Kong in 1970, prior to the establishment of the Faculty of Law. He earned his LLB in 1973 and his PCLL in 1974. Mr. Justice Suffiad was called to the Hong Kong Bar in June 1975. He served as a deputy Judge in the Court of First Instance of the High Court starting in August 1997 and continued for some 8 months until being appointed a permanent Judge of the High Court in March 1998, a position he held until his retirement from the Judiciary in October 2014. In August 2015, he was appointed as the Commissioner of Interception and Surveillance, from which he retired in August 2021.
